What’s Blooming at The Bag Bar….

My sister recently got engaged while on a romantic trip to San Francisco. She’s coming back home to get married here and has asked me to be the Maid of Honour. This ‘maiden’ is deeply ‘honoured’ to be asked, trust, but apparently as I have since found out, being the Maid of Honour really means wedding organiser as well. With great ‘power’ comes great responsibility you see :)

So Sue and I got to talking about the wedding. Sue used to be an event planner and has many tales of various nuptials she has planned in the past. Some were funny and some were memorable,  but mostly they were all fun with perhaps a little bit of stress thrown in. Coupled with our interest in decor and fabrics, it naturally started us discussing about themes, colours, lighting and textures. It got us so inspired and excited that we started making fabric flowers in rich, silken colours. We made 15 fabric flower fascinators in 1 weekend!

Now we’ll actually have to make the bags to attach to the flowers. Eek! That’s just us, doing things back to front again :)

My sister has no idea what she got herself into:P

YAHOOOOO!

Our custom-made fabric labels finally arrived today! We love our home-made labels with the rustic-look stamped logo but these ones are delicious too. We’re simply loving the chartreuse green background, chartreuse being one of our favourite colours. Can’t wait to start attaching them to our next bags!

A TOP night at The Secretaries Night

The Office Pub ( TOP)  hosted a celebration for Girl Fridays last friday night, and The Bag Bar was there in support of the ladies. Fredrick of The Office Pub, lovingly nicknamed Uncle Boy by regulars to the pub, is a huge fan of TBB and was very excited to showcase a few of TBB’s creations as part of the night’s limelight. The bags went very well and we can’t wait to see the bags on the arms of their new owners! Congratulations to Wati, who paraded her new custom-ordered handbag and promptly won the Best Bag competition!

New Look

Oh dearie, it’s been quite a while since our last update of new bags, hasn’t it? We’ve been so very engrossed with all things life, work and The Bag Bar! It’s been very encouraging to have over 200 people join our Facebook Group and to celebrate, we thought we’d have a new look and a new online shop!

So what’s new, you say? Apart from our blog looking quite funky with its new makeover, the online shop now features a new shopping cart, more functionalities, like being able to see more product pictures (always helpful) and view bags by categories (looking for a specific bag?).  Best of all, it’s more user-friendly ( coz we’re friendly people too:). Great news, The Bag Bar is now PayPal enabled! Paypal is a fantastic way of paying for online shopping because it’s fast, secure and best of all, easy. If you have a Paypal account, checking out is done in only a few steps. If you have never heard of PayPal, need more information or need to register for an account, head on over to www.paypal.com .

For residents of Malaysia, you’re not left out at all. There’s the preferred option of paying via bank transfer, cash or cheque. Just checkout as usual and click on the option, and follow the instructions. It’s that easy!

Now that the website is fully-functioning, we’re getting back to what we love: making bags! We’ve been at the machines during weekend and the new bags are coming along :)) We usually have tons of fun making them, deciding which buttons go where and pairing the fabrics takes some sparring between the both of us because there’s usually so many fabrics to choose from!

You’ve been spoiled!

We had just gotten these stamps made and let me just say, our logo kinda rocks! They certainly come in handy for our packaging ideas, which we insist to be brown paper. Has a kind of charm about it, methinks….

And take a look at this stamp we just got that says ‘Spoiled – Name  _______ ‘. It means what we want to do, spoil you guys! :))

A Bar Is Born

We’re marking today as a special date in our calender, because www.thebagbar.com is finally rolling out! After weeks of hunkering down at our sewing machines and laptops, we’re the proud mamas of a brand-spanking new website. Hot -off-the-press, freshly squeezed and smack the baby’s bum and say hello. You get the gist!

So why The Bag Bar? Well, apart from our running joke ( “I love bags and you love bars!” )… It really is just a place where we hope like-minded people can share our passion for all things handmade.

So grab your bar chair, drink up our concoctions and tell us some wicked stories, will ya!
